How much did Manchester City spend to acquire Joao Cancelo?
Manchester City spent £60 million to acquire Joao Cancelo from Juventus in 2019. The Portuguese right-back was one of the biggest signings of the summer transfer window and was part of a huge overhaul of Manchester City’s squad.
The fee was initially reported to be around £27 million, but City ended up paying an additional £33 million to complete the deal. This included a £20 million transfer fee and an additional £13 million in add-ons.
The transfer was part of a major spending spree by Manchester City in the summer of 2019. They also signed Rodri from Atletico Madrid for a reported £62 million and Angeliño from PSV Eindhoven for a reported £5.3 million. The club also spent around £45 million to acquire Spanish winger Ferran Torres from Valencia.
