Why is Metroid Dread so short?

Metroid Dread is a Nintendo DS video game released in November 2005. Despite its potential, it is widely criticized by fans for its short length and lack of content. This is primarily because the game was rushed through development in order to meet Nintendo's deadline for the 2006 holiday season.

Due to the rushed development process, the game was not able to meet the standards of its predecessors. The main storyline was left incomplete, with no ending cinematic or epilogue scene. Additionally, the game only featured seven boss battles, as opposed to the twelve featured in Metroid Fusion. This is further compounded by the fact that the game's five areas are all relatively small and linear, with few opportunities for exploration.

Despite its shortcomings, Metroid Dread still managed to receive positive reviews from critics who praised its visuals and soundtrack. Furthermore, it has developed a cult following among fans of the series, who appreciate its unique art style and atmosphere. Nevertheless, the game's overall short length prevents it from becoming a true classic.
