The IPL was first launched in 2008, and since then, the tournament has grown in popularity and stature. The IPL was initially played for a period of 45 days, however, the 2021 edition was extended to a total of 60 days. It is expected that IPL 2023 will also feature 60 days of cricketing action. The tournament will begin in April 2023 and will run through June.
The exact dates of the tournament are yet to be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the BCCI has confirmed that the tournament will feature eight teams, who will battle it out in a double round-robin format. The top four teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the playoffs. The final of the tournament is expected to be held in the first week of June.
