When did Carrie Bickmore's first husband pass away?
Carrie Bickmore's first husband, Greg Lange, passed away in 2010. Greg and Carrie had been married for seven years before his death. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2005 and underwent two surgeries and radiation treatment in an effort to beat the disease. Despite his incredible courage and positive attitude, sadly, the cancer returned in 2009 and Greg passed away in March of 2010.
The loss of Greg had a deep impact on Carrie. In the years following Greg's passing, Carrie became an advocate and fundraiser for brain cancer research and started the Carrie Bickmore Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign in 2015. She has since raised over $8 million for brain cancer research and has also been awarded a Gold Logie, a Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent, and a Walkley Award for Most Outstanding Contribution to Journalism for her work in raising awareness about brain cancer.
The loss of Greg and the work she has done since to honor his memory has been a source of strength for Carrie and an inspiration to many. She has said that the knowledge that she is doing something to honor Greg and help others in the same situation that he was in brings her a sense of comfort.
