What year did Song Joong-ki enlist in the military?

Song Joong-ki enlisted in the military on August 27, 2013. He was 27 years old at the time and served his mandatory military service as a public service worker at the Seungmu Fire Station in Gangnam, Seoul. He was discharged on May 26, 2015 after completing his 21 months of service.

The actor had personally requested a public service worker role due to an ankle injury he had sustained in a skiing accident. He received the approval of the Ministry of National Defense and was assigned to the administrative department of the fire station. During his service, he was awarded the Special Service Medal for his dedication and hard work, and was commended for his exemplary military service.

After being discharged from the military, Song Joong-ki returned to his acting career and signed with Blossom Entertainment.
