Ricci was born in Santa Monica, California, and spent the first four years of her life living in The Bronx, New York. She moved to Montclair, New Jersey with her family and attended Montclair High School. During her time in Montclair, Ricci was virtually home-schooled, as she left the public school system at the age of 13 due to bullying.
Ricci has stated in interviews that she identifies as a mix of her Italian, Irish, and Scottish heritage.
