How did Lisa Loring land the role of Wednesday Addams?
Lisa Loring was cast as Wednesday Addams for the classic 1960’s TV show The Addams Family. She was only nine years old when she auditioned for the role. Loring had to compete against hundreds of other young actresses for the role of Wednesday. Her natural acting talent, peculiar look, and determined attitude won over the producers and she was eventually cast in the role. Loring also had a connection to the show as her father, John Loring, was an art director for the show. He helped her to develop her skills before the audition and encouraged her to do her best. Loring was able to land the role after performing a monologue and reciting the line “I don’t like the sunshine, it’s too yellow.” Her unique delivery and presence sealed the deal and she was cast as Wednesday. Loring went on to play Wednesday for the entire run of the show and it is still one of her most memorable roles. She has since gone on to star in several other shows and movies, including a memorable guest role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Lisa Loring’s audition for Wednesday Addams was the start of an incredible acting career.
